"Tell me you wouldn't trade the whole mess of
them for one good kindergarten teacher."
Jim Hightower. Thieves in High Places, 2003.
Chuck Ream was born in Three Rivers, Michigan and graduated from Western Michigan University, magna cum laude. He earned two graduate degrees in Education at the University of Michigan and is a Michigan Licensed Professional Counselor. He taught kindergarten in Monroe, Michigan for 33 years. Recently, he "retired" to work full time on making the world a more just and sustainable place for children to grow up in. Chuck is the proud father of three exemplary adult children, Ian, Gillian, and Evan Ream.
Chuck Ream has been elected five times to the Scio Township Board of Trustees and has served on the Planning and Zoning commissions there. For two decades he has helped make Washtenaw County Michigan's leader in land preservation, with more than $100 million in funding committed. He recently was the spokesman for the "Citizen's to Save our Sheriff's Department" petition drive to defend the budget of the county road patrol. As spokesman for Washtenaw Coalition for Compassionate Care, Chuck won a 74% victory for sick people with a city charter amendment in Ann Arbor to legalize cannabis for medical use.
